Suspension and Expulsion Program Evaluation – Ontario Ministry of Education, Safe Schools Unit
July 2015 – November 2016
The purpose of this evaluation is to review program administration and assess program implementation and objectives regarding the suspension and expulsion program currently in place at Ontario district school boards. This mixed-methods evaluation project solicited input from a number of different stakeholders using a variety of research methods. Data collection methods involved in Phase One of the project include a literature review, inter-jurisdictional scan and a large scale, cross-province survey of professional and paraprofessional staff at all 72 school boards in Ontario. Phase Two of the project involves a document analysis and key informant interviews.
